Too funny

So these two brothers were in last month and they just cracked us up. As you can tell, the older one just has no personality (ha, ha!). I just had to share these…

and then I had to share a sweet one too!

Super cute white dress- and it’s on sale!

OK moms of girls, we had a sweet little girl come into the studio today with this dress. It is adorable on, and photographed beautifully. I looked it up on the website and saw it is now on sale too! Just thought I would share a great option for a photo shoot, in case you were looking for something!

Head over to the Janie and Jack website to see a larger image and purchase.

Outtakes

Time for another edition of Outtakes!

This time we are featuring the lovely Natalia, her husband and adorable daughter Madrid. Here’s what she had to say about her session:

Andie and her team were able to get our normally bashful daughter to come out of her shell. Great job! You can tell she had fun. She normally hides from any camera, but we captured several images of her looking right into the camera!

We had a great time with her too! And all of us at the studio have decided we wish we had Madrid’s hair! She’s a lucky girl:

The last time Madrid made me laugh was…

she has started bossing me around. She widens her stance, lifts her nose into the air, takes on a very serious expression and points a finger at me. “Mommy do this!” It’s very, very cute.

The gadget that saves me the most time is my phone, with games for Madrid of course!

Our favorite rainy day activity is watching Pinocchio.

I realized I had become my mother when sleeping in became a luxury! I feel like the last time I slept in was 3 years ago!

My favorite tradition I share with Madrid is saying our prayers each night.

If I had an entire day alone with no responsibilities I would sleep (see above answer!), get a facial and massage and have a nice glass of wine.

Thanks Natalia, we hope you get caught up on that sleep soon!

My funny faces

So we had a mini session event last month to capture some of those super silly expressions that all parents know and love. Some of them will be used on holiday cards this year so we can’t post those (don’t want to spoil the surprise!) but here is a cute one. We have been photographing this little guy since he was born and he is growing up to be such a sweet boy. With some pretty good expressions too!

Outtakes

So we are starting a new feature on our blog called Outtakes. We will be highlighting images from recent sessions and publishing some fun interviews with our clients. We love this because we get to know them better, and so do you! (Plus they get to show off their cute kids, and who doesn’t want to do that!?!)

So to start things off, here is Jenell. She recently came in with her husband and her two adorable daughters, Elyse and Layne. Here is what she had to say about her photo shoot:

I’ve learned the self-inflicted madness in anticipation of the session is never necessary. Andie and her team make you feel like you have the cutest kids on the planet and that you just came over for a play date. When the images are posted, I always tear up. After the session, I’m convinced that we didn’t get one good shot, but once I see them I can’t believe Andie caught ALL their familiar expressions. I love  knowing we will have those images forever, no matter how fast they grow up!

Thanks Jenell! We had a blast with the girls and we can’t wait to watch them grow!

She also had some good advice for preparing for your session:

Keep it simple. After a few sessions, I’ve learned that I love the images best that really allow the focus to be on their faces. No matter what the girls have on, Andie always seems to capture their faces and mannerisms. No need for all the searching and shopping! (remind me of that next time, because I am sure I will forget!)

Here are a few cute images from her session. And then read below for some other fun info on this sweet family!

The last time my children made me laugh was…

Today my 3 year old exclaimed from her carseat, “Punch it!” as I merged onto 75. “On it, sister,” I replied.

(editors note: It’s a good thing you have 13 more years ’til she’s driving!)

I realized I have turned into my mother when…

I licked my fingers to smooth down Layne’s hair. Ewww… really?

The gadget that saves me the most time is…

organic baby food pouches for meals on the go or when we’re stuck out past mealtime for my 18 month old

Our favorite family friendly activity in dallas is riding the trolley from West Village to the Art Museum. We grab lunch, look at the exhibits then ride the trolly back. The girls love being out in the bustle of the city… with a prime view of all the construction!

Instead of baby books, I write my children letters every month or so. I include their milestones and anecdotes, but also our thoughts and feelings about watching them grow. I plan to give them to them when they are teenagers or young adults.

If I had a day to myself with no responsibilities I would….

be racked with guilt! I’d love to lay by the pool or ocean with a refreshing adult beverage and read uninterrupted until I fell asleep. Wake up in time for a night on the town with my husband knowing I could sleep in the next morning.

Sounds good to us Jenell! We hope you get to do that soon!
